Open Evenings 5 – 10 p.m., Thurs. – Sat.
Evenings at Amics are dedicated to the culinary art of tapas. Originating in southern Spain, tapas are best described as appetizers that can be served either hot or cold.
The word tapas comes from the Spanish verb tapar, which means “to cover”; tapa is the word for “a lid.” History suggests Spanish innkeepers placed slices of bread over glasses of wine to keep out dust and flies. Gradually the thought of placing other items of food on top of the bread evolved. From this humble beginning, tapas became an essential part of everyday Spanish life and provide a unique alternative for healthy, casual dining.
